Payroll Administrator Apprentice - Carlisle, Cumbria

PPM Limited is a responsive and planned property maintenance company based throughout Cumbria & Leeds. We provide services for social housing clients as well as private. We are currently looking for a Payroll Administrator Apprentice for our Head Office in Carlisle.

The Payroll Apprentice will be responsible for providing support to the Payroll and HR team.

There is potential to move into a permanent role once the apprenticeship is completed and if successful, there would be possible further company funded training opportunities available like a CIPD or CIPP course, dependent on the chosen career path.


Payroll Duties & Responsibilities (Full training to be provided):

  • ‘Start to Finish’ processing of monthly payroll across the group
  • Maintaining payroll systems, entering data and making calculations for the monthly payroll frequencies
  • Keeping payroll data up to date (Monitoring emails and other payroll correspondence)
  • Dealing with any payroll queries, anomalies and changes with relevant management
  • Using Sage 50 Payroll to finalise payroll – PAYE / HMRC Deductions / Pensions / Payslips

HR Duties & Responsibilities (Full training to be provided):

  • Assisting with recruitment and onboarding and setting up new starters on systems
  • Keeping HR systems and records up to date and being on top of filing and general administration
  • Assisting with day-to-day HR tasks – Recording absences, answering phone calls, organising meetings, keeping track of compliance and chasing up information

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner and understand their responsibilities in maintaining confidentiality and acting with discretion
  • Have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively
  • Be organised and have good attention to detail
  • Have a good understanding and the ability to use apps, software and adapt to other new technological systems (Training will be provided)
  • Have a good understanding of Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook and Excel (Training will be provided)

Working Pattern:

  • Monday to Friday 08:00 am - 16:30 pm (with a 30-minute lunch break)

  • Full-time, Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship Entry Requirements:

  • Candidates require Level 2 Maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade 4 or above) or other comparable qualifications.
