PPM Elves, Elf ‘Beth and Elf ’Fi, from our Carlisle Head Office have been busy helping sort out all of the amazing gifts which have been donated to the CFM Cash For Kids, Mission Christmas Appeal. The appeal ensures that disadvantaged children throughout Cumbria and South West Scotland don’t wake up without a gift this Christmas.
Many generous people have donated hundreds of wonderful gifts for children ranging from babies right through to 12-18 year olds. All of the gifts are stored and sorted at Arco’s Carlisle depot on the Kingstown Industrial Estate. Arco kindly offer the space to the appeal each year and have a group of keen volunteers who help Sara Oldham, Charity Executive for CFM Cash for Kids aka Chief Elf, with the running of this major Christmas operation. We were delighted to be able to help with this huge task using some of our PPM employee volunteering days.
Last year, 7,888 children were given gifts with a total value of £512,000. It is set to be another big year with a similar number of gifts being distributed.

Our PPM volunteer, Elf ’Fi, said: “It is heart breaking to think that some children wouldn’t have anything this Christmas and think that Santa hadn’t been to them. It makes you realise how lucky you are to be able to give your family a lovely Christmas. It really makes you think twice and that just buying one small extra gift can make such a difference to one child’s happiness. I’m really proud to have taken part in this initiative and I hope to be involved again next year.”

CFM have a message on their website following last year’s appeal from Anna Glover of Cumbria County Council: “I have been working with several families who were really anxious in the run up to Christmas as they were unable to buy presents for their kids due to financial hardship, and your assistance was a lifeline for them”
