We celebrated the British Nutrition Foundation's (BNF) Healthy Eating Week here at PPM from Monday 10th June through to the 14th. The aim of the week was to encourage healthier eating, hydration and lifestyle to our PPM team and promote the benefits of these.
We believe it’s really important to promote health and wellbeing to all of our employees at PPM as there are loads of benefits for us both.
Benefits for Employees:
- Enhances health and wellbeing
- Enhances self-esteem

- Improves mental health
- Improves staff morale
- Increases job satisfaction
Benefits for PPM as the Employer:
- Increases productivity
- Decreases absenteeism
- Decrease sickness cost
- Reduces staff turnover
- Reduces occupational accidents and injury
- Provides an opportunity for team building
- Demonstrates to the wider community that the health and wellbeing of staff is important to our organisation.
The BNF Healthy Eating week highlighted five health challenges for our team to get involved with. These included:
- Have breakfast
- Have 5 a day
- Drink Plenty
- Get active
- Sleep Well
We also celebrated ‘Fruity Friday’ in all of our depots with a range of delicious fruits available to enjoy and help towards everyone’s 5-a-day.
We provide a PPM Health and Wellbeing calendar and monthly updates to all of our employees with important dates for the diary such as National awareness day’s or events, for example:- Mental Health Awareness Week; National Walking month and the BNF’s Healthy Eating Week. We hope that this information raises awareness for our employees to improve their own health and wellbeing and also that they pass this onto their family and friends.
We also promote local charity challenges that our employees can get involved in, to again provide benefits to them, as well as raising money for important organisations that provide vital help and support to our local communities. One of the challenges takes place this Saturday, 22nd June, when some of our team will be completing the Ullswater Way Challenge which is a 21 mile walk around Ullswater in the Lake District. Monies raised by the team will be given to Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland, a local Cumbrian charity.
