PPM were really excited to be part of the first ever Talent Connect event which took place in Carlisle City Centre on Saturday 21st September. The event was organised by the Young Carlisle Ambassadors, Carlisle’s next generation of budding business leaders. The Young Ambassador’s wanted to give the young people of the City, and Cumbria as a whole, an opportunity to come together and be inspired, discover high profile career opportunities, take a different look at learning and be involved in creating a bright future for themselves.
Our very own Business Administration Apprentice, Charlotte, is a committee member for Young Carlisle Ambassadors along with our Communications and Development Manager, Beth, who is one of several business mentors for the group. Both Charlotte and Beth have been involved in the detailed planning of the event for a number of months, along with the rest of the dedicated committee.
All of the planning and hard work definitely payed off and the day was a huge success bringing a large number of young people to the City Centre, keen to have their eyes opened to the wealth of opportunity for them here in Cumbria.
The area around the Market Cross was split into four zones, including: the enterprise zone; the careers zone; the learning zone and chill out zone. There was absolutely something for everybody.
The young people attending picked up free goodies, cakes, coffees and even mocktails in the chill out zone. In the enterprise zone there were talks on how to run your own business and some of Carlisle’s successful entrepreneurs and business leaders explaining how they started out in their careers. The learning zone provided information to help the young people choose the right pathway. Finally there was the careers zone which provided the opportunity to meet over 40 potential future employers, including PPM. There was a host of interactive activities and demonstrations at these employer stands to make the event as interesting as possible for those attending.
We are sure that everyone left with lots of ideas and knowledge which will raise their aspirations and see exactly what can be achieved when living and working in our amazing region.
