Local Business and School Partnership results in Creative Van Art

PPM Van Art Competition with Victoria Junior School, Workington.

PPM vans are often seen out and about in Workington and this week local school pupils will be keeping their eyes peeled and watching eagerly to see if they can spot the PPM van's with a difference. The local Cumbrian business has enabled students at Victoria Junior School to stretch their creativity by designing a van bonnet that expresses what their local community means to them. The winning designs are now covering two PPM Ltd vans that travel around West Cumbria.

PPM Limited, The Cumbrian property maintenance company, have been providing day to day property maintenance services to a number of housing associations in West Cumbria, including Your Derwent and Solway, for the last 12 years. Keen to continueingly develop their partnerships in the community, PPM limited have joined forces with Victoria Junior School, who has a close link with Your Derwent and Solway Housing Association, with many of the children attending the school from local estates.

Gordon McGregor, Managing Director at PPM Limited visited the school to ask the children to create a piece of art work based on what their local community means to them. The winning piece of art work would then feature on a local PPM Limited van.

Students from Victoria Junior School worked on the designs. The 100 plus entries were judged by Gordon McGregor, Managing Director at PPM Limited and Amanda Starr, The Head of Your Derwent and Solway. With some outstanding pieces, this was not an easy task.

The winning van designs came from Astile Rice and Brodie Smith. They both received £30 worth of shopping vouchers, as well as seeing their art work coming to life on the PPM vans. The five runners-up also all received a £10 shopping voucher.

PPM hope in the future to run some exciting workshops to educate, encourage and inspire the young students about job opportunities in the local area.
