PPM's Bright Stars team named one of 12 winners at celebration event

We are so incredibly proud of our 'Blooming Bolton' legends from Boltons C of E School who we were delighted to be paired up with as business mentors for the Centre for Leadership Performance Cumbria, Bright Stars Programme.

The students were absolutely thrilled to be one of the 12 winning groups from all the amazing social enterprise projects of 2023, being named winners of the Best Demonstration of being Great Communicators. 👏 📢 🏆 ✨

The mini-tycoons setup 'Blooming Boltons' Welly Planter initiative to recycle old welly boots whilst brightening up the community and attracting bees and other wildlife. The children designed posters and wrote letters to ask for donations of wellies as well as sending letters to lots of supermarkets in their community, asking for plants and compost.  As a result, they got over 70 wellies donated and Morrisons, Tesco's and Tynedale Farm Services all kindly donated plants and compost.  The sale was a huge success with the customer service team responsible for greeting and talking to the customers.

Our Communications & Development Manager, Beth, has loved worked closely with the Year 4 class over the last 8 weeks as their business mentor.  Beth has also been joined by other members of the team including our PPM Flimby Depot Manager, Matt, who helped with practical tasks like creating drainage holes in the donated wellies.

Massive congratulations to these superstars and everyone who took part in Bright Stars 2023. Such a fantastic initiative that we have thoroughly enjoyed being part of!

Bright Stars introduces Cumbrian primary school children to leadership, social entrepreneurship and teamwork and excites pupils about the world of business in a fun accessible way.  It enables children to meet positive role models and raises their aspirations, providing opportunities to show leadership and gain new skills, and encouraging young people to make a positive impact in their local communities.
